Old Jefferson Citizen Laid To Rest Friday
Martin V. Camp, 94, a citizen of Jefferson for several years and one of the few
Civil War veterans living here, died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Al
E. Mitcham on Polk Street last Thursday afternoon after an illness of a few
weeks. The deceased was formerly a member of the 67th Infantry of Indiana and he
attended the Old Settlers Reunion at Gettysburg last year. A daughter, Mrs.
Mable CAMP May of Kildare, a son J. L. Camp of Tivolle, Texas, 15 grandchildren
and 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, survives Mr. Camp
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Kildare on Friday
afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Clyde Thomas of Atlanta officiating,
assisted by the Rev. C. A. Barron of Linden. Interment was made in the family plot in the Kildare Cemetery.
