Feb. 12, 1818 - Dec._, 1889

Was among one of the first settlers of southern Palo Pinto Co., along with the Reasoner and Gibson families. Brother Henry was scalped by Comanche Indians, but he and his family were lucky enough not to be attacked. Descended from Peter Welde, who came by boat from Rotterdam to York Co., Pennsylvania in 1720. According to his granddaughter, Lester Welty Dyer, he and many other Welty's and Reasoner's were all buried on the family old family plot. His grave was one of the numerous rock vaults. {F.A.G.}
