Sam Lisenbee, aged 30, living six miles southeast of Kirkland, killed himself Tuesday night by the accidental discharge of a shotgun. The charge was of small bird shot and struck Lisenbee just back of the right ear. A portion of the charge missed him and lodged in the roof of the porch. It is said that Lisenbee had been troubled by a stray dog and had shot at the animal before but had missed it. Tuesday night the dog was heard near the house and Lisenbee got up and went out in to the yard. He evidently sat down on the edge of the porch with the gun between his knees as the direction of the shot bears evidence. Mrs. Lisenbee was awakened by the discharge of the gun and when she went outside found her husband lying lifeless on the ground in front of the porch. Death was instantaneous. Deceased was well respected and his death has cast a gloom over the community. He leaves a widow and small child, also his parents. The funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon and burial took place in the Kirkland cemetery.
