Howe Cemetery is located approximately 4.5 miles south of Burkett, Coleman County, Texas. It is on privately owned land, originally owned by David William and Safronia Elizabeth Barnett Howe. The land was deeded to the Howe Community 26 October 1907 and being one & one-half acres and recorded in the Deed Records of Coleman County in Vol 65, pg 35. The first dated grave is that of an infant daughter of D. W. & Safronia Howe who was born and died 21 April 1893. To reach this cemetery from Burkett(on FM Road 206)go west out of Burkett toward Coleman and just past the Pecan Bayou bridge, turn left onto a dirt county road. Travel approximately 4.1 miles keeping to the left road. You will cross FM Road 585 and continue south another .7 mile to a gate into a pasture. The cemetery is located approximately 1.5 miles back into the pasture. For permision to enter this land you could probably contact Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman for more information.
