Funeral services for William Gene Berry, age 64 of Seminole, Texas will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at West Side Church of Christ, with Brother David Williams officiating and Dean Boyer assisting. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Boyer Funeral Home.

Gene was born in Littlefield, Texas on December 20, 1951 to Helen Lonita (Moree) and Bivion Ward Berry. He married Terri Lynn Goodwin on April 7, 1989 at West Side Church of Christ in Seminole. Gene worked as a deputy sheriff and was employed by Gaines County for a total of 26 years. Prior to working for Gaines County, he served as a Reserve Officer with the Denver City, Texas Police Department.

Gene Berry was very passionate about his law enforcement duties; he never met a stranger and was an extremely caring person. He enjoyed motorcycles and Corvettes, and collected antique classic model cars. He also enjoyed drawing and sketching, as well as sanding and painting cars. He cherished going camping, especially with Dean Boyer; their escapades caused the wives to christen them "Yogi and Boo-Boo," a nickname which stuck. Gene loved his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and his dog Fletcher. He was the "go-to man" for his entire family.

Gene Berry passed away April 23, 2016 at his residence in Seminole. He is preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law; one son, Toby Berry; one sister, Rhonda Berry; one nephew, Michael Sims; and one brother-in-law, Doyle Cottrell. He is survived by his wife, Terri Berry of Seminole, Texas; one son, Brandon Bailey and wife Jehra of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Laci Rodriguez and husband Johnny of Seminole, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ferrell and husband Jeff of Kempner, Texas; one brother, Steve Berry of Hobbs, New Mexico; three sisters, Debbie Cottrell of Seminole, Texas, Sherry Nowlin and husband Billy of Springtown, Texas, and Beverly Carre of Seminole, Texas; five grandchildren, M'Kenzi, Addison, Braylee, Cooper, and Jillian; and his beloved dog, Fletcher.
