Preston Starks, 67, of Andrews passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Permian Regional Medical Center.
Preston was born July 21, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
He has been a longtime resident of Andrews. Preston worked in the oil field as a welder, a pumper and a truck driver. He owned a self-service gas station as well as other adventures.
Preston was a singer-song writer, a story teller, and a pig farmer. He loved to pan for gold and visit casinos. He also worked as a volunteer for the Relay for Life, Andrews Senior Center, various Catholic Church events and he sang at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews where he was known as the "Music Man". His family meant everything to him.
Preston was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Florence Jacobson, his brother James Calvin Jacobson and great grandson, Levi Ellis.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Starks of Andrews; two daughters, Vicki Gonzalez and husband Brian of Andrews, Sharon Ruth of Andrews; six grandchildren, Keegan, Rylan and Nicki Ellis, Zackary and Zandy Humphrey all of Andrews; Chrystine Jackson of Colorado City, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Cason, Felicity and Chasidy.
