Obituary

Silas Humbles, 81, Retired Barber, Dies Here Sunday

Silas Humbles, 81, who was barber in Cameron for 52 years, died at Saint Edward Hospital Sunday, June 20 at 8:45 p.m. He became ill Sunday morning and was admitted into the hospital.
Mr. Humbles was born June 9, 1873 at Summerset, Kentucky. He has lived in Cameron since he was sixteen years of age.
Funeral services were scheduled at the Chapel of Marek - Burns funeral home at 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 21 with Reverend P. L. Caperton officiating, Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Humbles is survived by two sons, G. L. Humbles of Cameron and D. L. Humbles of San Leandro, California; five daughters, Mrs. N. L. Caperton of Cameron, Mrs. S. B. Morris, Mrs. E. M. Pemberton and Mrs. Myrtle McLerran, all of Temple and Mrs. Cordia Bell of Houston. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, among them Eddy Lankford, who is with the United States Army at Camp Chaffey, Arkansas and 25 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers, all of Summerset, Kentucky.
Grandsons will act as the pallbearers.
