Graveside services for Ervey C. Montes, 70, of Andrews were held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bernard Gully, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, officiated. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with a rosary service afterward at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Montes died at Permian Regional Medical Center on Monday, Jan. 9.
He was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Marcela Olivas on May 9, 1961. He was a retired cattle importer for stockyards and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of Andrews; a son, Luis Montes of Andrews; a daughter, Martha Elena Montes of Andrews; his mother, Guadalupe Montes of Presidio; two brothers, Jose Montes and Mario Montes, both of Presidio; two sisters, Ortencia Lopez of Houston and Luz Maria Cajica of Artesia, N.M.; and four grandchildren. www.mcnettfuneralhome.com
