LIEUTENANT COMMANDER US Navy
July 4, 1920 - December 12, 2001
Memorial services for Alfred P. Couch, 81, of Lubbock will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Westminister Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Paul Cunning-ham officiating.
Arrangements are under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
He died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001.
He was born July 4, 1920, in Aspermont. He graduated from Aspermont High School and Texas Tech and did post-graduate work at the University of Texas. While attending Tech, he was a member of the Wranglers Social Club. He married Norma L. Thornton on Sept. 22, 1946, in Lubbock.
He served in the United States Navy, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He was director of public services for the city of Lubbock for 27 years and also farmed and ranched.
He was a member and elder of Westminister Presbyterian Church, a member of the Lubbock Rotary Club and the Thursday Lunch Bunch.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark P. of Houston; a daughter, Mary Enger of Houston; a brother, Robert of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.
