James Michael Richardson, a native of Mission, Texas, passed away on December 15, 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas just two weeks shy of his 36th birthday. He was born on December 29, 1983 in Odessa, Texas. While attending Mission High School, James became involved in the R.O.T.C. program. Once he graduated in 2002 at the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during Operation Iraq Freedom. James is remembered by having a big heart, always helping others in need – but not always able to help himself. The last few years, he struggled deeply with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As loving and devoted as he was, he was powerless over the demons he fought so hard to overcome. James is survived by his loving mother, Loretta Young and one son: Tryston Richardson. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 22, 2019 between the hours of 3:00 pm and 9:00pm at Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission. Graveside service, with full military honors will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
James was a giving person, and even in death, donated his organs. By doing so, four people received the gift of life. A true hero indeed.
