Funeral Services for Sammy Benavides, 48, of Lubbock and formerly of Slaton will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow in Slaton's Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.
Sammy passed from this life Friday, Feb. 15, 2008. He was born Oct. 30, 1959 in Slaton. He attended Slaton Schools. He was a life long resident of the Slaton and Lubbock areas. He was presently working for Lubbock's Shrimp Galley.
Sammy was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Alfredo and Manuel Benavides and his mother, Evanjelina Benavides.
His survivors include his son, Joshua; daughter, Tiffany Benavides and husband Cliff Hammeren Jr.; his father, Alfredo Benavides Sr.; brothers, Alfredo Benavides, Jr., both of Slaton, Manuel Benavides of Lubbock and Duby Ariaz of Dallas; sisters, Elizabeth B. Cano of Dalton, Ga., Ruby Rosas of Slaton and Elvira Jean Benavides of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
