Funeral services for Willis E. Sheets, a Canyon resident since 1947, were conducted at the Spearman Church of Christ Friday afternoon, February 6, at 2 o'clock. Earl Craig, director of the Bible Chair at West Texas State College, officiated at the funeral and he was assisted by Joe Watson, minister of the Canyon Church of Christ.

Sheets passed away suddenly at his home in Canyon Wednesday morning at 4:15. He was born February 11, 1900, and in just one week would have observed his 52nd birthday.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Nellie Sheets; four sons, Don, Jess, and Jodie Sheets, Canyon, and Shirley in the army stationed near El Paso; five daughters, Mrs. Marvin Cornette, Huntsville, Wanda, Grace, Peggy, and Leatha Sheets of Canyon; five brothers, Dasil Sheets, Clayton, N.M., Leonard Sheets, Texline, William Sheets, Spearman, Ray Sheets, Canadian, and Riley Sheets of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sisters, Mrs. R.B. Archer, Mrs. E.P. Hester, Mrs. Floyd Rikes [sic], all of Spearman, Mrs. Bob Cates, Sunray, and Mrs. F.I. Bynum, Ft. Worth.

Burial was in Holt Cemetery in Spearman.
