SANTA FE - Mr. Winston W. ‘Wimpy' Miller, Sr. passed from this life Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

Born January 31, 1920, in Proctor, Texas, Mr. Miller had been a longtime resident of Santa Fe since 1936, previously of Proctor, Texas. He had been employed at Amoco Petrochemical for 35 years and retired in 1981, served in the US Army, attended St. John's Lutheran Church and was a member of VFW Post 5400.

Winston was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed being around people and never met a stranger. In his earlier years, he enjoyed baseball, fishing with his wife and friends, and tending to his vegetable garden. In retirement years, he could be seen sitting in his lawn chair in the front yard, drinking his coffee, and waving at neighbors and passing cars.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Mary Edna ‘Mickey' Miller; parents, John William and Laura Miller; and several sisters and brothers.

Survivors include daughters, Laura and husband, Gilbert Mireles of Santa Fe, Mary and husband, Guy Gimenez of Austin; son, Winston Warren Miller, Jr. and wife Jane of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Julie and husband, Bill Reitmeyer of Hitchcock, brother-in-law, Carol Harris of La Marque; grandchildren, Mathew Miller, Colin Gimenez; great-grandchildren, Talon Miller, and Corban Miller. Also, other step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Miller's family would like to extend their love and thanks to Jennifer and to his caregivers, Evangeline ‘Vangie' and Linda for their loving care and support; also thanks to A. J. Castaneda, Jr. for the flowers.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Button officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
