January 9, 1951 marked the day of birth for Reverend Dr. W. W. Jackson, Jr. He was born in Galveston, Texas to Woodrow W. Jackson, Sr., and Josephine Smith Alcorn. He was the fifth of eleven children. Being raised in a loving Christian home, while still a child he established his commitment to Christ and received the gift of God?s amazing grace through His Son, Jesus Christ. At the age of eight, under the Pastoral leadership of the late Dr. B.W. McWashington he was baptized at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City. The virtues of integrity, hard work, responsibility and self-discipline, were instilled in him by his parents at a young age. He began his formal education with La Marque Independent School District. He attended Lake Road Elementary School, Woodland Jr. High School, La Marque Jr. High School, and he was a proud 1969 graduate of La Marque High School. Upon graduating from high school, he attended the College of the Mainland which equipped him for his future employment. He remained a faithful and active member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastoral Leadership of the late Reverend Marvin C. Bridges. Reverend Jackson heard the clarion call of the Lord to preach the Gospel of Christ, and he accepted his calling and preached his first sermon on February 3, 1974. He was ordained in the Ministry and returned to college to complete his spiritual educational goals. He received his Bachelors of Theology, Masters of Art, Doctorate of Humanities and a Doctorate of Divinity. He attended Conroe Bible College, Southwest Theological Seminary and Mt. He was called to Pastor the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Caldwell, Texas. He diligently led this church to higher heights in the Lord serving until April 1994. Being led by the Holy Spirit, Reverend Jackson became the pastor of Mount Paran Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City serving 20 years. He was not just a pastor, but like King Solomon he was a builder and a spiritual father. His anointed preaching, biblical teaching and visionary leadership brought the light of Christ into the lives of thousands, who were blessed by his fruitful ministry. Reverend Jackson loved to preach God?s uncompromising word, he believed through Christ all can be saved. He firmly believed that you entered the sanctuary to worship and you exit to serve; the Church is the earthly manifestation of the personality and the power of God. The Church must reassess Her role and priorities, and must take as Her preamble, ?It is more blessed to give than to receive.? Ultimately, soul winning and teaching must never be secondary in God?s work.Reverend Jackson?s present and past religious services include; Moderator of Lincoln District Missionary Baptist Association of Texas; President of Mainland Baptist Ministers Association; Secretary of the Mainland Ecumenical Alliance; member of The National Missionary Baptist Convention of America ?
