Born June 15, 1921 in Seadrift, TX, Mr. Bryant had been a resident of Santa Fe for 38 years, previously of Hitchcock. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seabee with the 52nd Battalion before returning to civilian life and becoming a welder/boilermaker in 1953. He worked with the Boilermaker's Local 132 for 30 years before retiring and attended First Baptist Church of Alta Loma for many years. Chester enjoyed flying single engine planes, crop dusting, hunting and fishing, but his true passion was growing trees, his greenhouse being his prize possession. He was very proud of his orchard, along with his 1930 Model A that he was often seen driving about town.

Preceded in death by his son, Albert W. Bryant; brothers, Elmer Reagan, Clinton and Sterling Bryant, survivors include his loving wife of over 65 years, Atlanta Bryant; daughters, Darlene Weatherly and husband, Wayne of Highland Village, Becky Ewing and husband, Gary of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Erica Ewing, Dane Ewing and his fiancé, Austyn Smith.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Reverend Mike Honeycutt officiating. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
