V. Kenneth Brown, Jr., 73 of La Marque passed away Friday, February 3, 2006 at St. Luke’s in Houston. Kenneth was born December 15, 1932 to V. Kenneth and Alice Earle Brown, Sr. Kenneth was a pastor for eighteen years. Ten years at the Friends Church in Lawrence, Kansas and eight years at Bayshore Friends Church in Bacliff, Texas. Kenneth ministered at Harborview Nursing Home for twelve years and Hearthstone Nursing Home for seven years. Kenneth was a Prudential Agent for thirteen years.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his father Rev. V. Kenneth Brown, Sr. and his brother Rev. David Brown.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Jeanette Brown of La Marque; son Kenneth Mark Brown and wife Sonja of Baytown; daughters Julie Hughes and husband Robert of Harrison, Tennessee and Rebecca Hartman of Chattanooga, Tennessee; step-son Keith Johnson and wife Laura of Pearland; stepdaughter Gayle Mitchell of League City and stepdaughter Joyce Martin and husband Karl of Hotchkiss, Colorado; mother Alice Brown of Winamac, Indiana; sister Elsie Short and husband Warren of Winamac, Indiana; sister-in-law Hazel Brown of St. Louis, Missouri and fifteen grandchildren.
Kenneth had a heart transplant eighteen and half years ago. Kenneth fought a courageous battle and he was an encourager to all he met. The Lord was first place in his life.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, February 6, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Bridges and Pastor David Dinkins officiating. Entombment to follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
