GALVESTON — Luther L. "Tootie" Jewell, 75, of Galveston died on Wednesday, January 27 at his residence.
Mr. Jewell was employed by Union Carbide, retiring after 42 years of service in 1982. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a member of Galveston County Golf Association, and a member of Harmony Lodge #6.
He is survived by his wife Clo Jewell; daughter Leslie Fraley; two sons, Danny Jewell and Gary Jewell all of Galveston; a step-daughter, Sandy McKee of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a sister, Alma Kelley; two brothers, Samuel Jewell and Homer Jewell all of Galveston; grandson, Tra Fraley and two step grandsons, Mark McCrory of Houston and Blake McCrory of Beverly Hills, CA.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening January 28th at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a devotional service at 6:00 p.m. at J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Chapel.
Services will be on Friday January 29th at 10:00 a.m. at iKe First Lutheran Church with Reverend David Hoh officiating.
Entombment will be at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock under the Auspices of Harmony Lodge #6.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Jewell,Jr, Joe Fuste, Charlie Dundee, John Whelton, Jack Krepser, and Dan Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Abe Levy, Gerry Hazelhurst, John Richardson, Donald Anderson, Glenn Williamson, and Harry Maxwell.
