SANTA FE — Mr. Larry Gilbert Montemayor passed from this life Thursday evening, at his home. Born February 3, 1943, in Alvin, Mr. Montemayor had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1992, previously of Alvin. He had been a maintenance supervisor at Equistar Chemical Company for 24 years. A member of Alvin little league baseball for several years where his coaching took the City Champs and went on to the All-Stars, he was a manager for the little league for 5 years and served as Commissioner for three years. Larry liked to collect antiques, although his main love was his family.

His parents, Pedro and Matilde Montemayor and sister, Patsy Juarez, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Montemayor; sons, Larry James Montemayor of League City and Russell Allen Montemayor of Alvin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Dolia Montemayor of Alvin, Arthur Montemayor of Houston and
Pete and Karen Montemayor of Palarmo, California; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cleo Guerrero of Alvin, Isabelle Gutierez of Alvin, Sara and Jim Hernandez of Huntington Beach, California, and Ophelia and Joe Navarro of Alvin; granddaughter, Megan Montemayor of League City; a special niece, Carmen Nuncio and her husband, Zeke of El Paso and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday in the committal chapel at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery with Deacon Diego Guitierrez officiating.

Casketbearers will be George Ashworth, Daniel Barajas, Gary Thomas, Bobby Vera, Wayne Warr and Mel Woodard. Honorary casketbearers will be David Rogers and Lee Rogers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501. A Rosary service will be at 7:00p.m.

Those who wish may make, memorials in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Care Team.
