Mr. Henry E. Smith, Sr., was born on March 18, 1931 to the union of Roberta Armstrong and Jerry Smith in Bessemay, Texas. During his childhood up to his adulthood he grew up in Jasper, Texas.
At the age of 19 he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He served gave valiant service for eight years. He was honorably discharged following his dutiful service.
In 1962 he relocated to Galveston, Texas. Then in 1964 he met the love of his life Anna Mae Linden. On January 29, 1966 they were united in marriage. After they married, in 1968 two children were born, Henry E. Smith, Jr and Shibohn Marie Smith. Later on in 1975 another son was born, Clifton Daniel Smith.
For many years Mr. Smith worked for Southwestern Warehouse and a couple of other cotton sheds until they closed. Then he began his career with UTMB in Galveston, Texas until his retirement in 1996. He loved fishing, shooting pool and especially his entire family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Roberta Armstrong and Jerry Smith; his one and only sister, Sadie Mae Hodge.
Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his loving memories; his devoted wife of 52 years, Anna Mae Linden Smith of Galveston; his children, Henry E. Smith, Jr., Shibohn M. Smith (Tony Martin) all of Galveston and Clifton D. Smith of Angleton; 2 grandsons, J’Myron J. Smith and Donovan C. Smith both of Galveston; also left cherishing his memories are a host of brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many more family members and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1420 31st St., Galveston. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12 p.m.
