*Obituary
Jack Cabbell, division manager of Southwestern Public Service company here, died this morning at 10:44 o'clock in the North Plains hospital. He was 50 years old.

In failing health for some time, Cabbell was admitted to the local hospital yesterday morning at 11:30 o'clock. Cabbell went to Dallas for medical attention late in October and had not been able to work since. He later returned to his home and in the last two months had been in the hospital several times.

The utility company executive first came to Borger in 1926. He became an employee of the Kansas City Power and Light company in 1920 and then in 1926 he was sent here to set up the stores department for the Panhandle Power and Light company.

Cabbell lived in Borger until 1943, when the company transferred him to Amarillo to handle the purchasing department. He was purchasing agent until 1947, when he was transferred back here as division manager.

Active in civic affairs, Cabbell was first vice president of the Borger Chamber of Commerce; past president of the Rotary club; director of the Knife and Fork club; a charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce; and Elk, and a member of the Huber Golf club.

He was married in 1929 to the former Clara W. Wendland, who survives him. Also surviving are three children, Jan and Jim, both of Borger, and John, who is stationed at the Amarillo Air Force Base; and a sister, Miss Hazel Cabbell, of Kansas City.

A native of Missouri, Cabbell was born in Bosworth and was graduated from Kansas City schools. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Borger.

Final rites will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Presbyterian church here with the Rev. James G. Glenn officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park cemetery.
