ODESSA - Bobbie Curry, retired Registered Surgical Nurse, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Home Hospice in Odessa, Texas. She was born December 26, 1922, in Lindale, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Coleman Curry, her mother, Versie Hicks Hoodenpyle, step-father, Thomas Hoodenpyle, and her brother, Billy Curry.

Bobbie worked for Medical Center Hospital for 35 years as an assistant O.R. Supervisor, prior to her retirement in 1987. Bobbie was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II.

Mrs. Curry is survived by her long-time friend of 40 years, caregiver, and guardian, Oralia 'Lollie' Castelo; her nieces, Barbara Wester and husband, Ronnie, Ann Sroud and husband, Mike; sister-in-law, Sylvia Curry; and two great-nephews, all from Amarillo. Another long-time, surviving friend, who through Bobbie's generosity and genuineness, saw her as a second mother, is Jerome McChristian, wife Kim, and daughters Kayla and Haley.

Mrs. Curry touched many lives and will be greatly missed. She was always ready to lend a hand, helped countless through her work as a nurse, and even more through her life as a friend.

She had been a resident of Parks Nursing Home for the past one and a half years. A memorial will be held at Odessa Funeral Home at 6 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2OO3. She will be interred at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger, Texas.

Special thanks to Parks Nursing Home Staff, Medical Center CCU, 4C Staff, Home Hospice Staff, Drs.: O'Hearn, P.V. Patel, Adams, Ghanta, Russol, and J. Pudupakkam.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity, or since Mrs. Curry was a collector of bears, you may donate a stuffed teddy bear to the Odessa Teddy Bear Patrol by contacting Corporal Zorina Saldana through the Odessa Police Department.
