*Obituary
A Borger youth was killed Friday night in an automobile-motor scooter collision on the Fritch highway west of Borger near the intersection of Farm Road 1551.
Dead is Robert Wayne Hamilton, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Hamilton of 10 Huber Johnson Camp.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m.
According to investigating Highway Patrol officers, the youth apparently was traveling east toward Borger when his motor scooter was struck from the rear by an automobile driven by John Wayne Bond, 20, of 117 Pine, Route Six, Borger. Officers said they could find no lights on the motor scooter.
Bond, also traveling east, apparently did not see the youth until the accident occurred. Police said there were no skid marks before the accident and Bond apparently did not apply his brakes.
Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace J.D. Miller. His body was thrown 398 feet over a gravel highway divider into the west bound traffic lane. The automobile skidded 384 feet in approximately the same direction.
Bond told officers that when the accident occurred he was watching an automobile headed north on 1551 that had stopped at the intersection. Highway patrolmen have not located the driver of the automobile. Patrolmen urged the witness to report to Highway Patrol headquarters at the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Department in Borger.
No charges have been filed in the accident, but the case will be submitted to the grand jury for investigation.
A Tri-City Ambulance took the body to Minton's Funeral Home.
Hamilton is survived by his parents, one brother, William Lee of the home and one sister, Paula Ann, also of the home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bunavista Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Harrison will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Harrison, Jimmy Martin, Roger Mayhon, Melvin Tanner, J.C. Barnett, and Othel Hester. Honorary bearers are Wayne Powell, Lloyd Crawford, Ed Badgett and Johnny Browning.
