Elton Ray "Johnny" Johnston, 59, of 805 O'Daniel, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday in North Plains Hospital.

Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Ed Brown & Sons Chapel of the Fountains with the Rev. Don Hughes, pastor of New Testament Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

A retired employee of the Phillips Plains Plant, he was a native of Sharon, Okla., and had been a Borger resident for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Coast Guard. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a member of VFW Post 1789.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons, Harold of Angleton, Vernon Lee of Augusta, Ga., and James William of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Mrs. Bea Clifton of Moore, Okla.; three brothers, J.P. of Borger, James Richard of Odessa and C.L. Garrett of Phillips; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Duggan of Grove, Okla.; eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Riggle, Chuck Key, Jessie Harris, Joe Luna, Gene Williams and Marvin Meadows.
