Dexter Deck Carley, of Lubbock, passed away on Aug. 13, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 87. He was born in Glen, Texas, on July 21, 1929. He married Cleeta Jones on July 31, 1950. Deck retired from South Plains Electric after 34 years of service. He was a member of Parkway Church of Christ. Dexter had a passion for gardening and woodworking, as well as attending bluegrass festivals with his wife of 66 years. Dexter is survived by his wife, Cleeta; son, Mike (Toni) Carley, of Lubbock; two daughters, Janette (Wyndell) Caviness, of Parker, Texas, and Jami (John) McKinley, of Portales, NM; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers; and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven. Interment will follow in the Ralls Cemetery, Ralls, Texas.
