Herman McIntosh, Past V.F.W. Commander, Dies

Herman M. McIntosh, longtime resident of this community, died at the Veterans hospital in Amarillo early Sunday morning. He was 62 years of age and was connected with the B. F. Goodrich company.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Martin of Corpus Christi; one sister, Mrs. H. E. Lee of Ohio; four grandsons.

A member of the famous Rainbow division during World War I, Mr. McIntosh was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was one of the most active members of that organization up until the time of his passing, and was also a member of the American Legion and of the V.F.W. "Cooties."

"Mac", as he was affectionately known in this area, was for many years with the Lone Star State company prior to his connection with B. F. Goodrich company., and was one of the pioneers in building up the local oil industry.

The body will rest at the Blackburn-Shaw-Brown funeral home until 2 p.m. Tuesday when services will be conducted at the new Veterans of Foreign Wars hall at the corner of East First and Main streets. Full military rites will be accorded Mr. McIntosh.

The Rev. J. N. Hunt will officiate at the services and interment will be in Highland Park cemetery under the direction of Blackburn-Shaw-Brown funeral directors. Casket bearers will be Robert Moore, F. L. Chapman, Robert Chumbley, M. E. Thompson, Ben McGraw, E. J. Kenney. Honorary bearers will be: Charlie Gilbert, E. C. Pullam, Tom Davis, Charlie Maisell, Fred Mullins, Scott L. McCartney.
