Mary Dickson Hampton Family (Rock Garden)
The rock garden was built by one of Mary's slaves, Grandville Hampton, who came with her and her daughters to Texas from Georgia during Civil War after the Union soldiers came through her plantation and took everything she had. They came to Texas in a wagon and team in 1864.
The slave later help found the Pine Bluff Church and is buried at Pine Bluff Cemetery.
Buried in the rock garden are Mary Dickson Hampton, her two daughters and their kids who all died at an early age.
