Adolph Leo "Junior" Schmitz, Jr., 70, Borger died Friday, Jan. 19, 1996 in High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo.
Services are pending with Brown Funeral Directors.
Mr. Schmitz was born July 3, 1925 in Gainesville. He had been a Borger resident since 1927. He attended Borger schools and graduated from Allen Military Academy in Bryan. He attended Texas Technological College before serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Tate during World War II.
After the war, he returned to Borger and went into business with his father and they operated A.L. Schmitz Oil Company. He owned Accent Travel Agency, and was a member of Faith Covenant Church in Borger.
He married Bobbye Nell Adams on June 8, 1952 in Borger.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, J. Dirk Schmitz of Borger; a daughter, Shelley Dawn Sweatt of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Mary Ann Holt of Borger; and Marilyn Sue Lattig of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; two nephews; and two nieces.
