BORGER - Bill R. VanHooser, 70, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Anderson, pastor of Keeler Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Garden at Highland Park Cemetery.

Mr. VanHooser was born in Delaware County, Okla. He retired in 1989 as an engineer for the Texas Highway Department. In 1960, he moved to Borger with the Bureau of Reclamation. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

In 1964, he married Elsie Jaunata Pardue. She died in 1966. A son, Hanns Eric VanHooser, also preceded him in death in 1987.

Survivors include two stepsons, Gene Pardue of Amarillo and Jerry Wayne Matthews of Ardmore, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Teresa Fay Landon of Warrensburg, Mo., and Anita Matthews of Dalhart; and two sisters, Francis Elliott and Nadine Elliott, both of Washington.
