Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 5, at 3:00 p.m. for James A. Duke at the First Baptist Church of Wheeler with Rev. M.B. Smith, officiating.

James A. Duke, 76, passed away at his home, April 3, after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 17, 1875 in Tennessee and lived in Wheeler and the surrounding community for 14 years.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Georgia Duke; three sons, Floyd, Bert and Boyd all of Wellington; three daughters, Mrs. D. Burkhalter of Wellington, Mrs. Maude Randall of Amarillo and Mrs. Doris Lester of Wheeler; one step-son, Bill Brickey of Wheeler; two step-daughters, Mrs. Stella Webb of Redding, Calif., and Mrs. Oma Brown of Paducah; one half brother, Hardy Duke and one half sister, Mrs. Richie McCleash both of Tennessee; fifteen grand children and eight great grand children. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Harry Wofford, Murray Sanders, Boyd Burks, Harold Hill, L.M. Watson and Dorsie Hutchison.

Arrangements were through Kirk-Mason Funeral Home and interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery.
