*Obituary
James Melton Liles, 75, died Monday, March 14, 1988.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 in First United Methodist Church. Rev. Mike Struve, pastor and Rev. M.B. Smith, of Pampa, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Liles, born in Montague, moved to Wheeler County with his family in 1919. He was married to Florine Callan in 1936 at Wheeler. She died in 1982. He then married Rosemary Richardson in 1983 at Sayre, Okla. He was a farmer and rancher until his retirment [sic] in 1982. He was past president of the Wheeler Riding Club.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Vonda Mitchell of Duncan, Okla., Connie Ripptoe of Carter, Okla., and Jeanie Jarvis of Tahlequah, Okla.; a sister, Achsa Brothers of Shamrock; seven grandchildren; and a great grandson.
Pallbearers were Dean Bryant, Marvin Dale, Robert Douthit, Jay Kinnard, Howard Liles, Mark Pinkert, Bill Riley, Britt Stubblefield.
Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Daughtry, Bus Dorman, Boyice Farris, W.O. Jones, Bill Owen, Ed Riley, Ed Trimble, Bus Walker, J.D. Wallace, Ed Watts.
