Funeral services were held last Friday, September 23 in the Allison school auditorium for Columbus Lee Markham of Allison, Tex. Markham passed away September 21 after a long illness.
Mr. Markham was born January 31, 1885 and was 75 years 7 months and 20 days old at the time of his death. He came to the Allison Community from Duncan, Oklahoma in 1908. He led an active life as a farmer.
He was married to Ula [sic], his wife, in 1921 in Wheeler.
And he is survived by his wife and six children, Cecil Markham, Amarillo; Mrs. Avis Parker, Allison; Clayde [sic] Markham, Dalhart, Tex.; Bob Markham, Allison, Tex.; Ralph Markham of Sedan, N.M., and Glenn Markham of Allison, Texas.
He was also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; Also two brothers, Lewis Markham, Canyon, Tex., and Andy Markham of Wheeler, Tex.; and four sisters, Mrs. Kate Tate of McLean, Tex.; Mrs. Ella Pyron, Cordell, Oklahoma; Mrs. Alice Brewer of Amarillo and Miss Lucy Markham of Wheeler, Tex.
Pall Bearers were Claud Parker, Nick Wiebe, Leonard Powledge, Rex Miller, Verlin Haggerman and Ernest Begert. Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of the Kirk Funeral Home. J.W. Waller of Alanreed, assisted by the Rev. Jesse Leverett of Allison officiated.
