WHEELER - Arvid J. Sword, 67, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Toby Henson of Clyde and the Rev. Dennis Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Sword was born June 2, 1939, in Perryton to Eugene E. and Minnie Viola Sword. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1957.

He married Joetta Williamson on Aug. 2, 1976, in Wheeler. Mr. Sword worked for Baker-Taylor Drilling Co. for 25 years. He and family had lived in Wheeler since 1976. He had worked for Pablo Energy in Wheeler since 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife, Joetta Sword of Wheeler; four sons, Eugene Sword and wife Suzanne of Booneville, Ark., Robert Schubert and wife Shelly of Wheeler, Kyle Schubert and wife Jennifer of Borger and Benjamin Sword and wife Arielle of Dublin; two daughters, Viola Pitts and Jaylene Fallin, both of Verdigris, Okla.; three brothers, Harry Stumpf and wife Hazel of Spearman, Charlie Stumpf and wife Buelah of Perryton and Frank Sword and wife Allene of Inola, Okla.; a sister, Ruby Scott of Perryton; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Wheeler.
