Ray Austin, 83, of Littlefield passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 in Littlefield. He was born February 18, 1936 in Crosby County, Texas to Melvin And Hellen Austin.
Ray married the love of his life, Joann Stephenson December 19, 1957 in Anton, Texas. The young couple then moved to Littlefield where they began their life together. Ray was a hard worker, worked at R&W Supply in Littlefield for many years, and after retirement he continued working repairing lawnmowers for people all over the area. He was a handyman and could fix anything and liked working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing and listening to gospel music. Ray and his wife Joann were charter members of the Church of Littlefield, which was later names Praise Temple Church, and is presently known as Trinity Church in Littlefield.
Ray is survived by his son, Larry Austin and wife Stacy of Childress, TX; two grandchildren, Anthony Austin and Laurice Austin both of Childress; three sisters, Juanita Smith of Graham, TX, Marcella Collins of Austin and Bonnie Henderson of California; sister in law, Lana Austin of Levelland; two children of the heart, Chuck and Mitzi Dickerson of Littlefield; and nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Waiting for Ray in Heaven was his wife Joann Austin who passed away February 28, 2019; a son, Mickey Ray Austin who passed away in 1988; his parents; and five brothers, GW Austin, Russel Austin, Albert Austin, Loyal Austin and Otto Austin.
