Joseph Everett Wood, 79, died at Boerne, Texas Sunday February 18, 1968 after an illness of three months.
Mr. Wood was born January 27, 1889 at Milburn, Kentucky to Louis E. and Hattie Mott Wood.
He had lived in California for the past 25 years. He was minister of the Kelton Baptist Church from 1930 to 1932 and was Supt. of Kelton Schools at the same time.
Mr. Wood was a graduate of Baylor University in Waco and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth.
He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church of San Pablo, Calif.
Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Ester Hill of Wheeler, Mrs. Sue Cammack of Welmore, Tex., Mrs. Dixie Cruz of West Pittsburg, Calif., Mrs. Georgia Price of San Antonio, Tex., Mrs. Dale Dozier of Fulshear, Texas and Mrs. Carolyn Watkins of Bossier City, La.; two step daughters: Mrs. Avis Fox of Cahokia, Ill., and Mrs. Gladys Hoover of Sioux Falls, S.D.; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by three sons and one daughter.
Services were held in the First Baptist Church of Wheeler, Wednesday, Feb. 21 with Rev. Keith McCormick officiating.
Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright-Denson Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were Coy Bradstreet, Roy Bradstreet, George Davidson, C.C. Baird, Gordon Whitener and Leonard Rathjen.
