Funeral rites were held at the Baptist Church in Wheeler Wednesday afternoon for Willie B. Ervin Woodruff, 85 years old, former Wheeler resident who died in Pampa on December 10.
Mr. Woodruff came to Wheeler county from Fannin County, Texas, in 1940, and resided here until 1950 when he moved to Pampa to make his home with his children.
Born in Florence County, Alabama, September 4, 1871, Mr. Woodruff was a member of the Methodist church at Grice, Texas. He was a farmer.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Wheeler, Wednesday, December 12, 1956 at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. M.B. Smith of Pampa, assisted by the pastor Rev. Darrell Taylor officiating.
Surviving are the children; Mrs. Willie Lee Poole of Borger, Mrs. Ethel Threat of Pampa, Mrs. Ola Johnson of San Bernardino, Calif.; Mrs. Codie Cowden of Amarillo, Ray Woodruff of Atlanta, Tex., Henry, Marvin, Coleman and Glenn Woodruff of Pampa. Also surviving are 50 grandchildren and 78 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by [??] children, three sisters [??] brothers.
Grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home at the Wheeler Cemetery by his wife who passed away February 11, 1946.
