Ben Tillman Clemens, 73, died Wednesday, August 26.
Services were held in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. M.B. Smith of Pampa and the Rev. Rex Newkirk of Grand Junction, Colo., officiating. Burial was in Kelton Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Clemens was born in Taylor County and moved to Kelton with his family when he was 18. He married Lou Ella Thornton in 1928 at Wheeler. He farmed near Kelton until 1948, when he moved to Pampa. He retired from Skelly Oil Co. in 1972 and moved to Wheeler in 1978. He was a Baptist and a member of the Giddon [sic] International.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Lou Newkirk of Grand Junction; three sons, Bryan Clemens of Lucerne, Ind., Dwaine Clemens of Riggins, Idaho, and David Clemens of San Angelo; a brother, J.R. Clemens of Shamrock; four sisters, Mrs. Vena Richardson of Wheeler, Mrs. Angie Tillman of Orange, Mrs. Edna Manning of Texarkana and Mrs. Eyvonne Adams of St. Louis, Mo., 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Marfin Grimes, Wes Langham, Wayne Maddox, Frank Totty, Marvin Webster, Claude Wilson.
