Richard Manual Avila, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Amarillo, TX.
Rosary & Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, September 24, 2018 at St. Anthony's of Padua, Dalhart, TX. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Officiating by Monsignor Michael Colwell, Rector - St. Mary's Cathedral. ~ Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX.
Richard Avila was born in Portugal on August 28, 1970 to John & Maria (Almada) Avila. The Avila family immigrated to California in 1975. Richard was raised in Turlock, CA. and graduated from Turlock High School in 1989. He attended Modesto Jr. College where he studied Dairy Science. Richard married Jennifer Sherman on November 27, 1993 in Hilmar, CA and they have 2 daughters. The family moved to Dalhart in June of 2006 where they own and operate the Avi - Lanche Jerseys Dairy. Richard was a dairyman all his life, he had a passion for cooking for his family. He was an avid gun collector, loved golf and wood working.
Survivors include his loving wife- Jenny Avila of Dalhart, TX, daughters- Sidney Avila of Dallas, TX and Caitlin Avila of Houston, TX., his parents John & Maria Avila of Hilmar, CA., brothers- Rui Avila & his wife, Jennifer of Hilmar, CA and John Avila & his wife, Angia of Turlock, CA, his Grandmother Maura (Dores) Almada of Hilmar, CA and his mother-in-law, Elsa Sherman of Dalhart, TX.
