Ben A. Fought, 70, longtime Hereford resident, died, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Thomas E. Creek Veterans Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Joe Wall, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E 6th Street.

Ben was born June 10, 1942, in Tucumcari, NM, to Allen Benson and Lilly Jewel McDonald Fought. He married Ruth Hill Fought in Plainview on April 1, 1970. Ben worked at the Hereford Senior Citizen Center for 20 plus years. He was a member of the Avenue Baptist Church. Ben was a Vietnam Era veteran in the US Air Force. He loved to help people.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth in 1998, one brother, Billy Shoults, two sisters, Kathy Sandy and Linda Price.

Survivors include three sons, Roland Nash and wife Patricia of Plainview, Basil Nash and wife Sandy of Muleshoe, David Nash and wife Cindi of Elko, NV, two daughters, Margaret Copley and husband Wayne of Muleshoe, Gail Neeley and husband Jerry of De Leon, TX, one brother, Jerry Fought and wife Barbara of FL, one sister, Joan Wilson and husband Lewis of LA, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

The Family suggest memorials to the Hereford Senior Citizens Center, 426 Ranger Drive, Hereford, Texas 79045, in lieu of flowers.
