Death Clams W.R. Matthews Here Monday

Funeral services for W.R. Matthews, 78 years old, who died Monday afternoon, were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Rev. R.H. Cagle, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Matthews, who was born Jan 12, 1867 in Arkansas, came to Deaf Smith County from Eastland in 1925 and for many years operated a farm north of Hereford.

Survivors besides his wife, include three sons, L.J. and Ted of Hereford, and W.J. Matthews of Eastland; one daughter, Miss Odie Matthews of Hereford; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were J.E. Cockrell, Mack Beach, A.O. Thompson, Coy Phillips, R.R. Jackson and N.E. Gass.

Interment was in West Park Cemetery.
