*Obituary
Charles L. Savage, 65, passed away last Saturday morning at his home in East Hereford after an illness of only two days. The funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday at 3:00 p.m. followed by interment in the city cemetery, Rev. J.M. Boultinghouse officiating.

Mr. Savage was born in Pocahontas, Illinois, August 18, 1864. At the age of 36 he moved to Cedar Hill, Texas, where he was employed by the Straus Mercantile Co. for about 8 years. In 1901 he moved to Hereford, where he had made his home for the remainder of his life.

Mr. Savage and Miss Orlena Witherspoon were united in marriage October 4, 1909, and to this union was born a daughter, Orlena Carlyn, January 10, 1911, the mother living only a few days after the firth [sic] of her daughter, passing away January 18. Mr. Savage is survived by this daughter, Miss Orlena Savage, who is a student in Texas Tech; two sisters, Mrs. W.M. Horn, of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. M. Floyd, of Michigan City, Indiana. Two relatives of Mr. Savage, Mrs. E.H. Inman, San Antonio, and Mrs. W.B. Cogdell, Abilene, were here to attend the funeral.

Mr. Savage became a member of the First Christian church about 25 years ago and has been a faithful member since, he being a deacon of the church at the time of his death. His loss to this community will be keenly felt, especially by those who were closely associated with him.
