Funeral Services for Gary Shirley, 63, a long-time Houston resident, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Anthony Aakula as celebrant. Interment will be in West Park Cemetery. Mr. Shirley passed away in Houston, Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014

Gary F. Shirley was born May 7, 1951 in Dimmitt, Texas to Ralph and Stella Guggemos Shirley. Gary was raised in Friona, where he graduated from Friona High School in 1969. He then attended Texas Tech University where he received a degree in Architecture. He met and fell in love with Jalaine Lee, they married on October 11, 1997. Gary, a talented architect in Houston, was a member of the AIA, and served one term as a president of the Construction Specifications Institute. He was an active member of the St. Jerome Catholic Church where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus Fr. Diefenbach Council 4550 and proudly served as Grand Knight.

Gary is survived by his wife of 17 years Jalaine Shirley of Houston, 1 son Mike Lee of Houston, 2 daughters Jennifer Rollins of Friendswood, Margery Davis of Maple Valley, WA., and one brother Richard Shirley, and six grandchildren, Garrett and Elizabeth Davis, Mallory and Samuel Rollins, and Maxton and Henry Lee. Gary Shirley was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jan Shirley.
