Billy Gene Shore, 85, longtime Hereford resident and businessman died Monday, December 15, 2014 in Amarillo.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, December 22, 2014 in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 411 E 6th Street, Hereford, Texas. Rev. Kyle Streun, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Hereford, will officiate. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Billy Gene Shore was born March 15, 1929 in Sudan, Texas, to Barney and Johnie (Porter) Shore. He entered the US Army on December 11, 1950, served in Germany and was Honorably Discharged at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, on November 29, 1952. Billy met and fell in love with Mary Lou Griffitt. They married in Hereford on December 12, 1954. Billy was a C.P.A. He worked for Holly Sugar as an Accountant for 25 years and retired in 1994. He started his private C. P. A. practice in 1994 (Billy Shore Accounting - Hereford) and retired in 2009. He truly enjoyed serving his clients. Billy loved his Lord and family dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. In his younger years Billy enjoyed fishing, golfing and supporting his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their school activities and sports. Billy was a 50 plus year member and Past Master of the Hereford Masonic Lodge # 849 A. F. & A. M., a longtime member of the Hereford Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 312, Texas Scottish Rites and Shriners. Billy was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou (2002); son, Keith Shore (1997); 1 brother, Robert Shore; 3 sisters, Hazel Todd, Dorothy Smith and Lucy Garhardt.

Survivors include 1 son, Billy Kenneth Shore of Dumas; 1 daughter, Karen Shore of Amarillo; 3 sisters, Georgie Watkins (Scotty) of Lubbock, Louise Crabb, Elsie Neilson both of Ventura, CA; 3 grandchildren, T. Jay Brown (Wes) of Hereford, Matt Allison (Jenny) of Dumas, B. J. Allison (Adrianne) of AR; and 7 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Hereford Happy State Bank Accounts for great grandchildren; Neully, Maddy and Miley Brown.

Masonic Rites will be presented by the Masons of Hereford Masonic Lodge # 849, A. F. & A. M.

Military Honors will be presented by the U.S. Army, Ft. Hood, Texas.
