Lisa Dawn Acker was welcomed into the arms of God on February 20, 2016. After a courageous battle with cancer, Lisa returned home to prepare for her earthly departure. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 6-8pm at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 1pm at Southside Church of Christ. Lisa was born on August 30, 1970 to Gary Acker and Bobbie Faye Haliburton Acker. Four years later, she was joined by her sister Renee Acker, who would grow into her best friend. Lisa was baptized into Christ on July 15, 1987 and was a member of Southside Church of Christ. Lisa was a second mom to the loves of her life - Eli Acker, Amy Acker, Garyn Robinson, Tres Hurley, and Cutter Bridges. She delighted in watching them grow up and, even though she would deny it, spoiling them like crazy. Lisa will always be remembered for her compassionate heart. She never wanted to be in the limelight; but was hard at work improving the world behind the scenes. If she heard about a need in her community, she immediately set about to see how she could help. One way Lisa loved to help was to put her amazing couponing and price matching skills to work. She would get amazing deals on personal care items and share them with friends, family, and community organizations. In fact, it will be many years before some of Lisa's friends will have to buy toothpaste or deodorant. Lisa enjoyed life to the fullest. She surrounded herself with people she loved. Her life was filled with concerts, special events, and travels. Her friends were often lucky enough to be included in her adventures. Those blessed to know Lisa will treasure memories of her in our hearts and, in accordance with her wishes, will celebrate life every day. Lisa was welcomed into Heaven by grandparents, Robert and Ora Faye Haliburton and Grady and Aleta Acker, her fur baby, Elliot Fox Mulder and Cutter's nephew sweet baby Cohlson. Lisa will always be remembered by: parents, Gary and Bobbie Faye Acker; sister and best friend, Renee Acker; sister, Lisa Hurley, and husband Joel; "adopted" kids, Eli Acker, Amy Acker, Garyn Robinson, Tres Hurley, and Cutter Bridges; aunts and uncles, Stanley and Francis Acker and Jim and Carol Hariston; Cutter's mom, Bobbi Gonzales, and daughters Chelsi and Ashly Rogers; her friend Amy Grant, and husband Brian, and children Maycee and Lyndon; work family at Groves Mechanical; and many extended family members and friends
