The Original Family Cemetery, Which was Also Open To Family Friends And Was Free Of Charge, Consisted Of 1.78 Acres, In The NE Corner Of The Joseph Crawford Survey. The First Grave Has Been Lost In Time, But Family Lore States It Was Thomas H Crawford, Died 1858, Age 24, Son Of Joseph And "Polly" Crawford. The Oldest Surviving Grave Monument Is That of Ira Allen Carroll, Died 1873, One Year Old Son Of George M Carroll And Hannah R Walston Carroll. Veterans Buried Here Include The Spanish American War, The Civil War As Well As Later Conflicts. G W Crawford Open This Cemetery To Victims Of The 1925 Slocum Tornado. Thus It Became Open To The Public. In 1983 Legal By Laws And A Charter Were Drawn And A Formal Cemetery Association Was Formed. At This Time 1 Acre Was Added On the North Side From The John Irving Survey And A Formal Deed To The Cemetery Was Filed By The Fitzgerald Family Owners Of The Land Around The Cemetery At The Time.
