Services for John Autry Upshaw, Sr., 60, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Lubbock with Brother Roger Grahman officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home of Lubbock.
He died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Dec. 4, 1943. He married Dorothy Johnson on Nov. 19, 1943. He worked for Wal-Mart for eight years, where he was loved and admired by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Georgia Ross; and a brother, Phillip, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his five children, Natalie Brewster, Shirley Thurnton, Iris Mosley, John Upshaw, Jr., and Taborick Jackson; nine grandchildren, Keith, Brandy, Dominique, Michael, Jon, Cameron, Brandon, Ashley, and Javohn; six sisters, and two brothers.
