Wesley Chet Grissom (Chet) entered this world on July 1, 1964 into the loving arms of Quita Faye (Caraway) and Jimmie Frank Grissom in Stephenville. As the baby of the family, he was relentless in trying to keep up with his big brothers, Louis, Billy, and Jimbo, whether they wanted a tag along or not. As a hardworking farming family and with their deep roots of faith, these formative years instilled in Chet a tremendous work ethic, integrity, appreciation for the land, compassion for others, a sense of adventure, and deep ties to his heritage. And as all good farm kids know, there was plenty of fun to be had and trouble to get into along the way. Just ask his cousin Lori about the time the two of them as kids hopped in the pickup while the adults were away and drove into town to the gas station. Realizing they forgot their money at home, Chet took off into the pickup to grab it when, wouldn't you know it, his folks arrived home sooner than expected. Not wanting to get into trouble, he leaves poor cousin Lori stranded at the gas station making her walk all the way home!

Throughout life, Chet was known as a dedicated father, friend and farmer. In everything he did he gave it his all and worked harder than most. Except for on Sundays, of course. His friends and family recall a story in which Chet was trying to get work done on Sunday but everything seemed to be going all wrong and nothing was falling into place. Finally, he threw up his hands and said, ok Lord, I'm listening! I'll go home and rest then! But no matter what day it was, you knew you could count on Chet to drop what he was doing to help someone in need. And no matter how hard he worked, he always made time to spend with his family. A devoted father, he instilled many of the values we know him for into his children and has built a lasting legacy to be remembered by.

Chet is preceded in death by his mother and father and survived by his three loving children, Stephanie Kay (Gabe) Flick, Daniel Chet, and Rebekah Danyelle, grandson Lane Delaun Flick, siblings Louis Glenn (Nancy), Billy Frank (Donna), and Jimmie Harold (Shelia), numerous nieces and nephews and his childhood sweetheart, Julie Anne Outlaw, who he reconnected with during the last few years of his life.

In lieu of flowers make donations to Mission Opportunities at South Seminole Baptist Church.
