Valentin Hoch (pronounced Hoe)was married twice. His first wife was Margarethe Pabst. His second wife was Johanna Nisel.

There were six children known to have been born to Valentin Hoch and Margarethe Pabst: four girls and two boys.

5. Friedrich Theodor Hoch-born November 24, 1842, baptized December 4
6. Friedrike Wilhelmine Hoch-born August 5, 1845, baptized August 16

There are four children know to have been born to Valentin and Johanna, three girls and one boy:
1. Matilda (Hoch) Riebe, 2/1857;
2.Emma Augusta (Hoch) Allen, 6/1859;
3.Theodore William Hoch, 3/1863;
4.Molly Elizabeth (Hoch) Clark, 6/1865.

Johanna came into the marriage to Valentin with two children of her own Ann and Julius Fleming.

There is a small community named after Valentin it is called Hochheim, TX. Hochheim meaning High Home.

Valentin's home that he built still stands in Hochheim, TX. It is assumed that the home that Valentin labored over for his family was completed in 1857, because over back door of the home is the inscription ‘1857' with the initials ‘VH' underneath it.

The Hoch home is a historical landmark. "The sturdy two-story rock house that Hoch built was near the regular stage line between Indianola and Austin. Although Hoch did not build his house for a stage stop, it soon became known that one could partake of a good meal and if need be, spend a night." "People hauling freight from Indianola to Gonzales and Austin would stop there and eat, take their teams out and water and feed them."
