This Regiment was organized at Cincinnati and Sandusky, O., in September and October, 1864, to serve one year. On the 19th of November the Regiment left Camp Dennison and arrived at Columbia, Tenn. on the 28th. It was assigned to the Third Brigade, Second Division, twenty-third Army Corps, with which it remained during its entire term of service. The Regiment was engaged with the enemy at Spring Hill, Tenn., on the 29th of November, and at Franklin on the 30th. It was also engaged at Nashville on the 15th and 16th of December.
The Regiment afterward moved with the Corps to Clifton, on the Tennessee River, and thence via Cincinnati, Washington City, and Fort Fisher to Wilmington, N.C. Proceeding via Kinston it joined General Sherman's Army at Goldsboro. After the surrender of Johnston's Army the Regiment moved to Salisbury, and was mustered out July 17, 1865, in accordance with orders from the War Department.
