Historic Texas Cemetery Marker
Truce Cemetery
This Cemetery Chronicles The Heritage Of The Truce
Community That Served As A Center For Area Farmers, Beginning In The 1880's. The Land Was Deeded To The Trustees Of The Friendship Church And Cemetery Association In July 1906 By Marshall A (1873 - 1932) And Lizzie S (1868 - 1936) Board. The First Recorded Burial, That Of Infant Bertha Lee Finch, Had Already Taken Place In May Of That Year. The Methodist Episcopal Church Acquired The Site In 1908. The Sanctuary They Built Here Is Now Gone. In 1955, The North Texas Conference Of The Methodist Church Conveyed This Burial Ground To The Truce Cemetery Association To Oversee It's Affairs.
