Charles Clifford Britton was one of 10 children born to Iva May "Ivy" Conger (Glasscock). Though he was given the name of his mother's first husband (Boyd Franklin Britton), his father is unknown.
Charles's half siblings were: Essie Pauline Britton (Pair), Allen Leo Britton, Edna Lorene Britton (McClish), Dorothy Ola Britton (Akins), James Leon Britton, Franklin Dee "Frank" Glasscock, Leonard Lee Glasscock, Ivan Garland Glasscock, and Claude Richard "Rick" Glasscock. His brother Garland is the only sibling still living.
Charles was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 14, 1935. He was raised in Matador but returned to Amarillo in the early 1950's. He retired as a shoe repairman with Dolcater Shoe Repair, and was a member of Oddfellow Lodge and Sanborn Baptist Church.
Charles married Donna Maurine Dolcater on May 24, 1957. Together, they had two daughters: Patricia Ann "Tricia" Britton (West) (who preceded him in death in 1989), and Judy Elaine Britton (Jackson). He and Donna divorced in May 1970.
On June 20, 1970, Charles married Sandra Claire Price. They had one daughter: Charlotte Rene Britton (Evans). Charles and Sandra divorced in June 1976.
Charles married Barbara Ames on September 20, 1976 in Hutchinson, Texas. Their date of divorce is unknown.
On July 14, 1991, Charles married Virginia Pfeiffer (Jordan) in Plano, Texas. She survived him in death. He passed away in Amarillo on January 1, 1999, at the age of 63. He was a wonderful man, loved by many, who will never be forgotten.
